Stork to pay a visit to Empress Alexandra

January 14, 1913

The "stork is expected to visit the Russian Imperial family in the Spring," according to a Marconi wireless telegraph to the New York Times from Paris.  The dispatch is based on a report from the St. Petersburg correspondent of the Paris newspapers, Le Temps.

This report may explain why Empress Alexandra did not appear at the Christmas tree celebrations at Nicholas II's Cossack guards.  This is an annual event, and the Empress "usually attends."

The Court Chamberlain has been ordered to omit the Empress' name "from all great functions until further notice."

Nicholas and Alexandra have five children, four daughters and a son, Tsarevitch Alexis.
